BONTEN

BASICS
Bonten is actually an offworlder hailing from a near-future version of Tokyo, but he doesn't know that. While he was being used for medical experiments at an Eden Technologies lab, his memories were overwritten so many times that he doesn't really know who he is at all. Bonten works as a VR "set designer" for the gaming industry, and he's probably the best in his field. A few years ago, he started to get involved with mutant resistance groups, and he's been instrumental in organizing the current incarnation of the Fire Bringers.

CURRENT PLOTS
Bon is finding out that being a terrorist is a lot harder than he thought. Being responsible for the deaths of others eats at him, and he's alarmed by the decidedly more militant stance of his more competent comrades. His stress levels are high right now, and he's feeling the effects of the Minus Wave. However, he's found some common ground with Kaoru and developed an unexpectedly brotherly relationship with Nezumi. He's wary of Pippi and Zelman, though.

FUTURE PLANS
He'll continue planning and organizing Fire Bringers activities, but he's going to think twice before taking part in more active missions. He and Nezumi suspect that Branch Industries is intentionally causing mutations as part of an experimental breeding program, so they'll be investigating that. Right now, Bonten is pretty dismissive towards online rumors, but as a hacker, he might develop an interest in things happening on the network.

IN-GAME RELATIONSHIPS

UNLIKELY BROS
Probably his closest confidante. Ever since the Branch raid, Bonten has felt oddly protective towards Nezumi.

UNEASY COMRADES
She's the figurehead of the Fire Bringers, but Bonten is finding that Pippi isn't the easily manipulated martyr he wanted.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT
Zelman is supplying the Fire Bringers with weapons, but Bonten wasn't expecting to pay for them in blood.

COMMON INTERESTS
Bonten works for the Hitachiins as a programmer. He and Kaoru sometimes clash, but they both care about Nezumi.

LITTLE SISTER
Comrades due to Rikku's family allegiances, but his teasing went too far. He deserved that ass-kicking.

| NAME: Bonten. (This is actually just a professional alias - it's a Japanization of the name of the Hindu creator god, Brahma. In his false memories, Bonten's name is "Hiwa," or "little bird," but his original name is unknown.)

| APPEARANCE: Bonten is a tall, attractive young man who appears to be in his early to mid twenties. He has striking blue-green eyes, and the same greenish shade tints the long blond hair that he usually wears pulled into a variety of artfully sloppy styles. Piercings at his lip and left ear are connected by a decorative chain, and he has four small red dots tatooed around his left eye. Bonten prefers sleeveless clothing that is fashionable but plain, save for the brightly colored silk robes he wears draped over his arms or belted casually around his waist. While he wears loose knit sheaths over his hands and forearms, the makeshift gloves can't completely hide the signs of his mutation. His hands are disproportionately large, scaly and tipped in sharp claws, almost like a bird's feet. But with his arms covered by a robe, he can pass fairly well for human. While his VR avatar sports a matching pair of grey-brown wings, in the real world his back is marked by scars. Bonten hates wearing shoes unless absolutely necessary, even if the ground is frozen, and anyone who has a problem with that is likely to get a foot in their face. He keeps both his claws and toenails painted bright green.
